Shugorei is a finalist for Queensland Music Awards in 2026. (Yeah again after 2025 nomination, we didn’t win…) Our piece from Memories of Magic, Twilight Refraction (Contemporary Classical), The Charm (World) were nominated as finalists. Thanks for big supports to Laura Vaughan for Twilight Refraction, Shem Allen and Karin Schaupp for The Charm. The announcement will be on 22nd April.

Nozomi Omote is a professional freelance percussionist, well-known in Brisbane and beyond for her percussion performance, in groups like Shugorei , Ensemble Sooon and Camerata Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra. She is a classically trained pianist and a versatile musician, with decades of experience teaching private tuition. She is a percussion teacher at Queensland Conservatorium, QYO and St Peters Lutheran College.
