Isaac began taking percussion lessons with me when he was in 9th grade. He had just moved to the UK and showed great dedication by practicing regularly for our weekly lessons. Coincidentally, his family purchased a house within walking distance of mine, which made communication between us much more convenient.
During his time with the Queensland Youth Orchestra (QYO), Isaac would bring in his ensemble pieces, QYO pieces, as well as his favorite video game music. Together, we arranged and performed these pieces as a duet.
Isaac continued playing percussion throughout his university years while also participating in QYO. He pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in technical production at QUT. His graduation presentation went exceptionally well, which led to him being headhunted by a major company. He now works full-time for the company, creating visuals for events such as Suncorp Stadium. Isaac mentioned that his musical experiences greatly benefit him in his current job, particularly in areas such as logistics and timing of changeovers.
Today, I received an envelope addressed to Isaac. However, I didn’t check it before I opened and saw the product inside, I didn’t recognise it. I double-checked the recipient’s name. Oops! Realising it was meant for Isaac, I understood that the postman had made a mistake since our street numbers are the same. I took the envelope and went to Isaac’s house, where I knocked on the door. To my surprise, Isaac was there! It had been quite a while since he graduated from my lessons, despite living so close by. It was genuinely delightful to see him again and offer my congratulations on his successful life!
